Where do I begin with the sculpture “Calor”? When I was in college, a friend and classmate introduced me to the game Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) and I was hooked! It was and I am happy to say, still is, great fun. In fact, I still play with the same group of friends I played with 40 years ago.

For those of you who are not familiar with D&D, it is a fantasy role playing game populated with monsters, heroes, myth and magic where the imagination can run wild. In D&D, the player creates and develops the character they choose to play. Calor was my first character. Calor has a long and convoluted story. He started out as a wood elf fighter/magic user but in one adventure was killed and was reincarnated as an ogre magi. He retained the knowledge of his fighter /magic user past but now as an ogre magi possessed his own innate magical powers. One of these powers is the ability to polymorph or change his form. The form that he chooses when fighting is of a nine feet tall bipedal tiger warrior. The sculpture Calor represents him in this form. Calor is fighting with two matched magical swords and carries a magical crown and magic wand.
