The American Foxhound is a breed of dog developed over the several hundred years from the mixing of various strains of hound imported to America from England and France. The American foxhound is a scent hunter with a good, loud voice. Depending upon their use they can trail fast or slow, they can hunt in a pack or of up to 20 or more or can hunt singly. American Foxhounds are quite athletic, they can trail for hours. As they begin to get closer to their quarry their voice will change as will their their body language. I have been told that those with experience with hounds can sit on a still dark night and listen to their dogs far off and be able to tell the progress of the hunt.

This sculpture is bronze on a walnut base. This sculpture was fun to do, I look forward to doing more canines in the future.
