The Sentinel represents a guardian dragon. I envision it high up on a rock ledge or mountaintop with a vista of the surrounding landscape spread out below. The sentinel is ever vigilant. It swings its head as it perceives an intruder in its domain. As its senses gather information the sentinel prepares to confront this trespasser. The heavily muscled frame of the dragon tenses for movement. Dragons offer endless possibilities as a subject both in their physical form and what they can represent. They can be found in dozens of mythologies as they take on a variety of forms. At the whim of the artist they can be magical, mundane, good or evil. They can be massively armored juggernauts or they can be agile and lean. The sculptor’s imagination is the only control over who and what they can become.
